New Born

She is carrying life

She gave birth to a new child

But not the kind you’re expecting

Fear is holding her

Fear has taken hold of her

Embodied eco-anxiety

What will be born out of her?

Hopefully more beauty

Beyond bearing children as women’s only creativity

Given birth to her baby

She could feel her hip bone misaligned

Forced to bed perhaps to rest her body

Perhaps to let it all sink in

How can she know herself

Yet not know herself at all

Parts of her suddenly standing out

When they were likely there all along

Is she the architect of her own destiny

Or a scaffolder building her own child cage?
